In Chinese society, a widespread psychological dependency exists where adults rely on security, lacking independent thought and self-control. This collectivist culture emphasizes personal value through external approval, and increased top-down control exacerbates this dependency, leading to inadequate adaptability and reduced investment willingness. The older generation lacks flexibility and heavily relies on the government.
In this context, self-discipline and independent thinking are crucial for mental maturity. Enhancing competitiveness through learning and self-discipline, maintaining independent thought, and avoiding conformity are essential. Concurrently, while relying on security, individuals and businesses must actively seek development opportunities, cultivating mental maturity to better navigate uncertainty and market challenges, thus achieving personal and societal progress.
Eastern philosophy emphasizes “sensory unity,” deconstructing individuality to integrate it into the natural laws of the universe, seeking harmony with nature and society. In contrast, Western philosophy focuses on a “self-sanctifying” system, elevating individuality and the pursuit of truth through reason and logic. Eastern thought prioritizes holistic harmony, while Western thought drives progress but often leads to existential anxiety. Additionally, the divergence in philosophical approaches parallels the growing generational and gender divides in modern societies, reflecting broader shifts in values and identity. Together, these philosophies offer complementary perspectives on humanity’s place in a rapidly changing world.
